Diatomite

Diatomaceous earth is the shell and skeleton of microscopic, single-celled, silica-rich algae of sedimentary origin from lake regions. Diatom algae live in moist soils or rocks, lakes and seas. The use of Diatomite depends on the size and structure of the carapaces, which varies depending on the region in which it is extracted, and the treatment carried out in its processing process; as: Filtration aid or adjuvant, thermal and acoustic insulator, filler in a wide variety of products, absorbent of liquids and gases, construction material in mixtures with mortar, cement or concrete and as an abrasive material.
